Here is a condensed explanation to why cloth prices have escalated recently. This is from the Australian Bureau of Agri-
cultural and Resource Economics and Sciences.
"The Australian Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) price for wool is forecast to rise by 5 per cent in 2011–12, to around 1050 cents a kilogram clean. This follows an estimated price rise of 15 per
cent in 2010–11. Global supplies of apparel wool are expected to remain low in 2011–12, while demand for wool products is forecast to strengthen over the next few years." Couple this with the low U.S. dollar and you can see the effect on our industry.
